Salt began in 2022 when Pastor Heather Klein realized her family needed a safe place to worship. She wanted room to figure out what it means to follow Jesus in a tense and divided world.

Since then, the church has changed locations and service times, but the heart has stayed the same: helping people step into what Jesus is doing in their lives.

In this next chapter, with a new home at Palisades Presbyterian and a new Sunday time at 4 p.m., the goal is to reach people who feel a quiet pull toward something bigger than themselves. Maybe that is you.

If you are longing for deeper spiritual connection, healthier and more loving relationships, and a faith that can grow with you, Salt might be a good fit.

Heather began her career as a journalist, not a pastor.

For nearly a decade she worked as a TV news reporter in Huntsville, Alabama, southwest Florida, and Las Vegas. Nothing says “future church starter” like standing in hurricanes and at crime scenes on live TV.

In 2012 she stepped away from journalism and, through a series of unexpected turns, started working at a megachurch. There she discovered that women could be pastors too. She went back to school and launched a Bible study that started with fewer than a dozen people and grew to more than 100 in the room, with hundreds more joining online.

Then 2020 happened.

Watching many American churches chase politics and power left her deeply disappointed and unsure of her place in church life. She left the megachurch in early 2021 and graduated with a Master of Divinity from Bethel University that spring, still wrestling with what was next.

Out of that tension, the vision for Salt Church came to life.

Heather’s hope for anyone who shows up at Salt is simple. She wants you to know what she has discovered in her own story:

No one will love you better than Jesus. No one.
