THIS SUNDAY AT SALT
WE BELIEVE…
-
1. Jesus is at the center of our faith. The church’s role is to help you step into what Jesus is already doing in your life.
It was never the church’s job to tell you how to live your life and point out all the ways you are failing to meet “God’s standard”.
Instead, we believe we are deeply loved by Jesus and he wants to walk with us through joy, pain, and all the hard questions that come with this one, beautiful life.
But how do you even begin to navigate Jesus, especially in a world where faith and church can feel so messy and complicated?
Salt exists to help with that.
Here, you are invited to explore your relationship with God and what that means for your everyday life. That relationship is yours. It does not belong to any church, leader, or system.
-
2. You don’t have to believe what we believe to belong at Salt Church.
You don’t even have to believe in God. You are welcome in this community. You can ask questions, wrestle with faith, serve the community, and of course, worship with us.
Diversity has always been a core value at Salt—beyond gender, race, and background. It includes a diversity of beliefs, understandings of Scripture, and even personal views on God.
Navigating that isn’t always easy, but we believe it’s worth it. Faith isn’t about blindly accepting what someone from a pulpit tells you. It’s about testing, exploring, and discovering in your own time and in your own way.
Luke 19:40 -
3. We strive to be as Biblically accurate as possible.
The Bible tells us exactly what kind of religion God cares about. It’s taking care of orphans and widows.
The Bible says: Religion God accepts as pure and faultless is to look after orphans and widows in their distress.
At Salt Church, many people carry those stories. They are single moms, divorcee’s or never married – and of course, widowed – all treated similarly in our culture. If you also count those who’ve lost parents or are estranged from them, there are plenty of “orphans” here too.
No one has a perfect family. Your value does not drop if you are divorced, single, widowed, or estranged from family. Not in this community and not in God’s eyes.
James 1:27, Isaiah 1:17 -
4. What Jesus accomplished on the cross includes every person no matter their gender, orientation, race, or nationality.
This means you have access to a full life with Jesus, to the extent you feel called, without being held back by your identity or status. The LGBTQ+ community, women, divorced people, and others will not be excluded from worship or any leadership role based only on gender or sexual orientation.
Yes, there are Bible verses that have been used to keep people out of church.
There are also real questions about how those verses were translated, the ancient cultures they came from, and how our own biases shape the way we read them. All of that is taken seriously here, studied, wrestled with, and processed in prayer and community.
The conclusion is simple. Jesus said there is no commandment greater than this: love God and love your neighbor.
